Hivos' new global initiative, Urban Futures, supports young people in ten cities across five countries by building sustainable and resilient urban food systems. In addition to Bandung, Medellin, Chongwe, Bulawayo and the Ecuadorian city region – the North Pacific Coast Municipal Association of Manabí, we can now present a second set of five cities: West Manggarai, Cali, Kitwe, Mutare and the Chocó Andino Region with its connections to Quito.

Objectives / Goals
Urban Futures supports local partners and innovators, especially young people, in collaboration to build more inclusive and climate-resilient urban food systems while voicing their priorities, influencing decisions and exploiting opportunities in the food sector.
We aim to achieve this through multi-stakeholder collaboration and locally owned innovation. Hivos is a global fund and program manager, complementing and strengthening this local experience with connecting and learning, advocacy, communication and strategic coherence. RUAF, hosted by Hivos, supports these efforts with technical expertise, research, advocacy, and policy development.
