This study explores the problems of vocational education in Indonesian Vocational High Schools (SMK), focusing on the relationship between the quality of SMK graduates and the needs of the Business and Industry World (DUDI). This study underlines the importance of revitalizing SMK to increase the relevance of education to the needs of the labor market and strengthen the contribution of SMK to economic development at the regional and national levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This report is part of a study prepared by Article 33 Indonesia to map various strategic issues related to vocational education in vocational schools. The analysis was conducted by reviewing various aspects, such as the supply of vocational education, DUDI needs, lessons learned from international practices, and the role of local governments in managing vocational schools. This study also highlights the problems in private vocational schools that have high unemployment rates, the need for synchronization between institutions, and challenges in curriculum renewal and improving teacher competency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This article is part of a series of studies on \u201cVocational High School Revitalization and Its Relevance to the Business World and Industry,\u201d which explores potential policy directions to maximize the role of vocational high schools in producing quality graduates. This research was conducted in three provinces, namely DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Bali, each of which has unique economic characteristics: centers of government and business, creative industry contributions, and tourism sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
