This study explores the strategy of economic sector diversification as a step for post-pandemic economic recovery in Indonesia. With a focus on the Province Riau, South Sumatra and West Nusa Tenggara, this study underlines the importance of diversification to reduce dependence on certain sectors, such as mining, and to exploit other economic potentials. This approach aims to increase regional economic resilience and absorb more workers.
This report is part of a study designed to map out optimal strategies for economic diversification at the regional level. Using quantitative and qualitative analysis methods, the study identifies that while national economic diversification is quite good, regional levels still face significant challenges. The study recommends a strategy based on the RPJMD and investment in workforce skills development that is in line with industry needs as an effective effort to increase economic output and development inclusiveness.
