Established in 2009, Article 33 Indonesia (A33) is an Indonesia-based think tank committed to advancing inclusive development through rigorous policy analysis and advocacy, inspired by article 33 of the 1945 Constitution (Pasal 33 UUD 1945), with a core thematic areas including: Education and Health; Labour and Employment; Regional Development; Natural Resource Governance; Climate Change; Energy Transition; and Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI). A33 is seeking a Senior Research Manager to enhance its capacity to produce impactful, evidence-based policy recommendations that promote equitable and sustainable development in Indonesia. In this role, the Senior Research Manager will be pivotal in bridging rigorous academic analysis with practical policy solutions, ensuring that A33’s research outputs effectively inform decision-making processes at both national and subnational levels.

Scope of Work

Reporting directly to the Associate Director level, the Consultant will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development of proposals across A33’s core thematic areas.
  • Supporting research implementation as assigned, including data collection, analysis, policy research, and advocacy related to the thematic focus areas.

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum Master’s degree in Public Policy, Development Studies, Economics, or related social sciences; a Ph.D. in Economics is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in at least one of A33’s core thematic areas.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in proposal development, policy research, managing research teams, or related work.
  • Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated commitment to deepening understanding of A33’s focus issues at the local, national, and global levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently, while consistently meeting objectives and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional fluency in English, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural, collaborative environment and to deliver results under tight timelines.
