Penggunaan Dana Desa, sesuai PP No. 60 Tahun 2014 Jo PP No. 22 Tahun 2015 Jo PP No. 8 Tahun 2016 digunakan untuk: penyelenggaraan pemerintahan, pembangunan, pemberdayaan masyarakat, dan kemasyarakatan. Adapun prioritas penggunaan Dana Desa diatur pula dalam Permendes No. 5 Tahun 2015 dengan pokok penggunaan Dana Desa untuk pembangunan desa dan pemberdayaan masyarakat desa. Berdasarkan data KNPP Ditjen PPMD Kemendesa, belanja Dana Desa per 18 Desember 2015 menunjukkan bahwa 89,39% digunakan untuk pembangunan desa, 5,49% digunakan untuk pemerintahan desa, 2,63% untuk bidang kemasyarakatan, 2,50% untuk bidang pemberdayaan.
