The unequal quality of education is not only a problem at the national level, but is also experienced by DKI Jakarta, which incidentally is the country's capital. Current conditions show the limited capacity of state schools and the excessive capacity of private schools. Public schools on average have superior quality, while private schools are dominated by schools with less quality (underperforming). Superior private schools have limited capacity and are expensive, whereas less superior schools have excessive capacity, limited quality of facilities and infrastructure, and low fees.
The government does not have the capacity to provide educational services for all school age children (the capacity of state schools is limited). Therefore, the role of private schools is very important to participate in providing educational services.
