Inclusive forest management is quite an important shift considering that previous forest management policies tended to be more elitist. Such as being managed by the state itself or providing licenses to large entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, people are just spectators and are sometimes considered "only" criminals because they take a small amount of forest products.
This book shows some of these success stories. Through the stories told, it has been proven that the Social Forestry program has not only succeeded in stopping forest destruction, but has also succeeded in increasing economic prosperity, respecting the rights of traditional communities and communities around forests and expanding community participation in protecting and preserving them.
In the book you are reading, there are around eight interesting stories about inclusive social forest financing programs in Bantaeng and Enrekang Regencies, South Sulawesi and Ende, East Nusa Tenggara. It is not only related to the technicalities of how they manage Social Forests, but also the impact on the applicable social system.
