Social Program Evaluation is a training initiated by J-PAL SEA and aimed at decision makers, program designers and researchers working in the development sector. This training aims to provide an understanding regarding random evaluation (randomized evaluation) and how this method can be used to measure the impact of social programs. This training uses an interactive learning method that combines the delivery of material with group discussions.

The training not only taught material related to theoretical explanations, but also practical tips in the field such as identifying theories of change and measuring impacts for the PNPM Generasi program, Expanding Access to Credit, as well as the Raskin Card and Food Subsidy Program in Indonesia. The case studies conducted help participants explore how to design experiments and use appropriate randomization strategies so that the resulting research design and analysis results can be reliable and unbiased.
