This report is one of the results of three studies conducted on “"Study of Regional Cooperation Development based on Local Superior Potential in Supporting National Economic Recovery from the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic in North Sumatra Province."
Previously, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko PMK), Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Indonesia, and Article 33 Indonesia produced an initial study recommending that the food and beverage sector in tourism areas could increase economic growth in tourism areas. Lake Toba.
In connection with these recommendations, it is hoped that business actors in Provinces/Cities/Regencies will focus on producing food and beverages to support economic growth in their regions.
From the results of this initial study, the Article 33 Indonesia team chose Toba Regency, Samosir Regency, and Simalungun Regency as the target study locations for this research because these regencies are close to the Lake Toba Super Priority Destination (DSP). Apart from that, these 3 (three) districts have high or fast economic growth in the tourism sector, and also have a relatively large number of MSMEs.
This study was carried out to produce policy recommendations aimed at increasing regional economic growth, especially in the Lake Toba DPSP through local superior potential, such as MSMEs, human resources, and Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes).
