Addressing Educational Inequality: Presentation Highlights from 31 Selected Papers at FELT Indonesia 2024

Jakarta, 23 July 2024 – The Forum on Education and Learning Transformation (FELT) 2024, initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) together with Article 33 Indonesia, has entered its second day with the theme “Overcoming the education gap in Indonesia”. Today, 31 selected authors presented their work, having been selected from 215 submitted abstracts, reflecting the high level of interest in this forum.

Researchers, academics, educators, and education experts from various regions in Indonesia, as well as some from abroad such as Australia and America, shared their perspectives in this session. Today's presentations covered critical sub-themes, such as:

  • Digitalization to Minimize the Gap in Access and Quality of Education: An exploration of how technology can minimize gaps in access and quality of education across regions.
  • Improving the Quality and Quantity of Teachers: Discussion on methods and strategies to improve the quality and quantity of teachers, which is considered vital in reducing educational disparities.
  • Educational Facilities and Infrastructure: The importance of equitable educational facilities to support effective learning throughout the country.
  • Handling of GEDS IssuesI (Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion): Discussion on how education policies can be more inclusive and non-discriminatory.
  • Application of Student-Centered Learning: Exploring approaches that emphasize the needs and potential of each student for better educational outcomes.

FELT 2024 seeks to inspire new and relevant research in education. This forum is not only a place to exchange ideas, but also a collaborative platform that supports the development of effective and inclusive education policies.

We appreciate each presenter and author for their important contribution in presenting in-depth research. Their hard work and dedication have provided valuable insights that can guide policymakers in designing targeted and impactful solutions for education in Indonesia. It is hoped that the results of FELT 2024 will become an important reference in improving the quality of national education and pave the way for further initiatives that ensure equality and access to education for all.
